Ana Gloria Gómez Ruiz, founder of Public Market Fit

I'm Ana Gloria Gómez, a political scientist and GovTech professional. I have spent more than ten years working at the intersection of business, technology and the public administration.

My career has been built around developing business with the public sector: from operations, product and commercial development to leading a tech company specialised in public administrations.

Over these years I have worked with city councils, provincial councils, universities and other public bodies, taking part in the whole B2G cycle: spotting opportunities, designing proposals, selling, bidding, implementing, renewing and growing public accounts.

From knowing the administration to thinking in market terms

My background in Political Science, Public Administration and Law allowed me to understand how the administration works.

But there was a turning point in my career: the MBA. After years working inside the public market, the MBA gave me a different framework for interpreting what I was doing: strategy, positioning, product, business models, growth, finance and market creation.

And that is when my way of looking at B2G began to change. I stopped thinking only about how to sell a product to an administration and started asking myself a broader question:

How do you build a company whose market is the public sector?

That question is at the origin of Public Market Fit.

Public Market Fit

Public Market Fit was created to organise, contrast and share what I have learned about building business with the administration.

It is not meant to be a space about how the public sector should buy innovation, but about how companies can identify opportunities, validate a proposition, enter, compete, sell and grow within it.

My experience is closely tied to technology and GovTech, but the approach applies to any company or professional that wants to work with the administration.

I am currently also developing my doctoral research on artificial intelligence, transparency and the public sector, adding to that business experience a perspective increasingly focused on how new technologies are transforming administrations.

What I work on

I work with startups, companies, accelerators and organisations that want to develop their B2G strategy through mentoring, training and strategic support.

I deliver the mentoring personally. Every session, workshop and engagement is led by Ana Gloria, with more than a decade of experience building and selling business in the public sector: no intermediaries and no anonymous teams — you and I work directly on your B2G strategy.

And I keep working on a question that sums up this whole project rather well:

What has to happen for the administration to stop being an opportunity and become a market?
